The Stardust is a resort and casino located
in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is owned by Boyd Gaming Corporation.
The original resort was conceived and built by Tony Cornero,
though he died in 1955 before contruction was completed.
There has been recent speculation by the
media and the financial community that Boyd Gaming may plan
to implode the Stardust and build a new mega-resort similar
to The Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey but officials
at Boyd have publicly said they want to wait until after the
opening of the Wynn Las Vegas resort in April 2005 before
a final decision is made.
