The casino market grew at its fastest clip in the last two years, largely driven by the half a billion dollar. Lumière Place casino complex which got up to its full speed on Laclede's Landing. According to the state regulators, the Gamblers had spent about $85.8 million at the region's six casinos in the month of February and the impact of smoking ban in Illinois, the glitzy new Lumière and expansions all around became clearer.
Based on the figures that was released this Friday and Monday by gaming officials in Missouri and Illinois, showed a local market in flux, with gambling dollars moving west across the Mississippi and away from the two smaller riverboats. Every casino but Lumière lost business, when compared to the same period last year, yet as a whole, the market grew by six percent.
